DoD Roadmap Entry

Experience has shown that many DoD chemical- and petroleum-release sites could move towards site closure in a more efficient and cost-effective manner. Opportunities for improvement include:

a) Following more clearly-defined risk-based approaches to decision making,
b) Having the creation, refinement, and use of a site-conceptual model be the central focus of site characterization activities,
c) Having the site-conceptual models be the central focus of the decision-making process, and
d) More effectively communicating the site conceptual model, and its implications for the decision-making process,
e) Making the available information more easily accessible to all parties involved, and creating a historical log of the decision-making process.

The DoD RoadMap to Successful Corrective Action is intended to help take advantage of these opportunities for improvement. This web-site is complementary to the individual DoD LandTrek Web-Based project sites that are accessible from a pull-down menu on the main LandTrek web page. The DoD RoadMap to Successful Corrective Action is intended primarily to:

a) Provide supplemental background information on key elements of risk-based approaches to closure,
b) Provide a checklist of key questions and issues that need to be addressed when progressing towards closure, and
c) Provide links to available tools and resources that you may find useful when developing your own DoD Project Web-Site

This web-site is primarily intended for those participating in, or considering participating in, the development and use of a LandTrek Project Web-Site.

You may navigate through this DoD RoadMap to Successful Corrective Action in two ways:

1) Show me a check-list of what I need to do….
2) Introduce me to the RoadMap from a "Big Picture" point of view….
